If you ever read Vino 301’s blog around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays I write about how much I love season and it is my favorite time of the year. The festivities, food and fellowship warms my heart. These are all true statements. But, National Drink Wine Day is MY holiday. It is my Super Bowl, my Oscar night, my Christmas. It is what I do. I DRINK WINE. And, it is what you do too.
National Drink Wine Day is a real holiday. The commencement of the first celebration is undocumented, but over the years it has grown in popularity and practice. In January, I posted the National Drink Wine Day event on Vino 301’s Facebook page encouraging people to join in the celebration. It has been overwhelming how people have positively responded. Over 6,000 people across the United States responded and continue to respond. People posted comments, liked the event, shared pictures, or shared the event with others. Several were surprised National Drink Wine Day existed. Others professed they celebrate the holiday daily.People are embracing the holiday and organizing events. Happy hours, movie and wine night, and cocktail night are some of the big events being planned. Other plans are little more subdued, like opening a bottle of wine. The great thing about this buzz is that people are comfortable to enjoy wine on their terms. National Drink Wine Day’s goal is to end the perception wine drinking is snobby, and bring the fun back!
Vino 301 has plans of its own. Three activities are planned for next Saturday. Cheese and Wine Tasting in Beltsville, MDJoin us for an in-depth look at pairing reds and whites with everything from soft and gooey Brie, fresh and creamy chevre, aged, and extra-aged cheeses. You’ll never look at cheese the same.
Westminster Wine Tour in Mt. Airy, MDWestminster Wine tour tours vineyards located in Western Maryland. Civil war heritage and Maryland’s farming culture are celebrated in Western Maryland. Preserving this rich history blends well with modern day culture. This mix of old and new can be found in vineyards in this region. Winemakers use new and aged old wine making traditions. You will find that some wines are grown in the Bordeaux style. Wine, Beer & Spirits Tour: A Beverage Adventure in Frederick, MDYour tasting adventure starts at Linganore Winecellars and Red Shedman Farm Brewery & Hop Yard. Linganore Wincellars is one of Maryland’s largest vineyards and home to Maryland’s newest brewery. Vino 301 completes the tour at Springfield Manor Winery & Distillery. Springfield Manor offers fine wines, gin, rum and vodka. You can register for any of these events on Vino 301’s website. We look forward to celebrating with you.
